Mémorial Ascq 1944 à Villeneuve d’Ascq

The 1944 Ascq Memorial commemorates the massacre of 86 civilians by the soldiers of the 12th Division SS Hitlerjugend, which took place during the night of 1 - 2 April 1944.

It takes on the role of remembering those who were massacred, and places the event within the history of the Occupation in Northern France.

Visits to the 1944 Ascq Memorial are self-guided, with commentary available in four languages: French, German, English and Dutch.
